About

Fayruz Mohamed is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Director who serves as a non-executive director and independent audit committee member on various boards within the Islamic Finance, Islamic Social Finance, risk-benefit, medical scheme and government sectors.

It is noteworthy to mention that she has been appointed as a non-executive director to Africa's first JSE listed sustainability-linked, asset backed Sukuk Note in the agricultural value chain.

She currently serves as the National Chairperson of SANZAF (South African National Zakah Fund), which is the largest and longest serving Zakat management organisation in South Africa, after being unanimously reappointed for a 2nd term. Fayruz has been involved with SANZAF for over two decades, including 18 years as part of its national and regional executive in various capacities.

Fayruz is internationally certified in Zakat Management and qualified in Islamic Finance.

Among her professional expertise are corporate governance, audit and risk management, strategy formulation and execution, financial performance and reporting, financial and operational management, business and regulatory compliance, strategic business reviews and forecasts.

Her passion for women empowerment, especially at the workplace, has led to her establishing SANZAF's Women Empowerment Program and developing and enhancing policies for the improvement of her women-team. She also established SANZAF's Women Islamic Business & Finance (IBF) Forum aiming to create a platform for women within the IBF sector with the objective of fostering development, sharing knowledge, experiences and networking with like-minded women.

Her efforts and work in the Islamic Finance industry has earned Fayruz the prestigious accolades:

She has represented South Africa on various international fora to share her knowledge on topics related to Zakat, Governance and Women in Leadership.
